FeatureDescription
Intelligence API CallA single API request that analyzes and verifies identities such as email addresses and IP addresses using Autheona's intelligence engines.
Production ProjectA live environment for configuring policies and processing real customer traffic in production.
Sandbox ProjectA testing environment where you can safely experiment with policies, integrations, and workflows without affecting production traffic.
Email EngineThe core email intelligence engine that validates email addresses and detects disposable, risky, or suspicious emails.
IP EngineThe core IP intelligence engine that analyzes IPv4 and IPv6 addresses for reputation, risk signals, and network characteristics.
Email Velocity EngineDetects high-frequency email usage and identifies suspicious signup or abuse patterns based on email activity.
Policy EngineA flexible rule engine that lets you build custom IF–THEN policies to automate verification and access decisions.

Policy Engine Capabilities

The Policy Engine provides powerful rule-based verification using the following intelligence signals:

Domain Intelligence

  • Detect disposable email providers
  • Detect free email providers (e.g., Gmail, Yahoo)
  • Detect business/corporate domains
  • Detect educational institution domains
  • Detect government domains
  • Validate top-level domain (TLD) legitimacy
  • Detect domain typos (e.g., gmial.com)
  • Check domain age
  • Detect numeric-only domains
  • Check for punycode encoding

Email Address Validation

  • Verify email deliverability
  • Detect role-based addresses (e.g., admin@, support@)
  • Detect plus addressing (e.g., user+tag@domain.com)
  • Detect dot variations (e.g., j.doe vs jdoe)
  • Detect quoted local parts
  • Detect mixed Unicode scripts
  • Detect hyphens, underscores, and special characters
  • Detect numeric characters in local part

Fraud & Abuse Detection

  • Detect known fraud patterns in email addresses
  • Count subdomains (abuse signal)
  • Detect wildcard DNS records
  • Detect UUID/hash-like subdomains

Custom List Filtering

  • Allow/block custom domain lists (via References)
  • Allow/block custom TLD lists (via References)
  • Allow/block custom role-based patterns (via References)

Enterprise Access

If you're processing high sign-up volumes or need advanced Custom Rule Engine capabilities, we'd love to hear about your use case. While Enterprise features are not available yet, you can contact us at sales@autheona.com to discuss your requirements. We'll also keep you informed when we launch the Enterprise beta.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are beta features?

Beta features are features that already exist in the system but are still being improved. To use these beta features, you need to specifically request access. They are not publicly available on any plan unless you have been granted permission to use them.

What free features do I get?

When you create a new account, you get access to all the features included in the Developer plan, but with usage limits.

For example, your account includes a limited number of API calls per day instead of per month, as provided by the paid plans.

With a free account, you can:

  • Create both Sandbox and Production products.
  • Create and manage References.
  • Use the Policy Engine.
  • Access all Developer plan features, subject to the free usage limits.
How do additional API calls work?

Every plan includes a specific limit on the number of API calls you can make. If you exceed your plan's included API call limit, we won't block or skip any requests. Instead, you'll be charged a small fee for each additional API call.

Additional API calls continue to be billed until you reach your plan's hard spending cap, if one is configured. If your plan does not have a hard cap, you can continue making API calls without a limit, and you'll be billed accordingly.

Calculation Example:

Additional API Calls = max(0, API Calls Used - Assigned API Calls)
Additional Charge = Additional API Calls × Price Per Additional API Call

Total Monthly Cost = Plan Price + Additional Charge
What can I do with the Custom Policy Engine?

In the policy engine, you can define custom rules with references to gain maximum control over validation. Unlike generic tools, you can decide what needs to be done based on your specific use case.

What happens if my app goes viral and I go over my monthly limit?

Your security will not stop, and you will not lose new verifications. We understand that sudden growth is a good thing, so we never block your API access if you pass your plan limit. You will simply be charged a tiny fraction of a cent for each extra check. You can upgrade your plan at any time in your dashboard to get better rates.

How much engineering time does it take to set up?

You can have this running in minutes, not days. We do not force you to install heavy, bloated software into your app. You get a clean, simple REST API that your developers will love. You simply send us few details, and we instantly send back the response.

Do I need to talk to a sales team to try it out?

Not at all. You are in complete control. You can create an account right now, start on the completely free plan, and test the API yourself. You only need to contact us if you want a custom Enterprise setup. Otherwise, you can manage your plan, upgrades, and rules entirely on your own.
