A few years ago, while building other products, we ran an experiment: what happens if we remove mandatory email verification at signup? The results were immediate. Signup rates increased dramatically. Users could access the product instantly. The onboarding experience felt frictionless.
But within weeks, we noticed something else: disposable email addresses flooding the system, typos in critical email fields, bounced transactional emails damaging our sender reputation, and support tickets from users locked out of their own accounts. We had optimized for conversion at the expense of everything else.
The choice felt binary: either force verification (and lose signups) or skip it (and deal with abuse and deliverability issues). Neither option felt right.
The Gap in the Market
We looked at existing solutions. There were thousands of email validation tools - but nearly all of them were built for one use case: cleaning marketing lists before bulk sends. They weren't designed for real-time signup flows. They weren't built to analyze risk instantly. They didn't help teams make intelligent decisions about who to trust at the moment of account creation.
What we needed didn't exist. So we built it.
